Art Deco made in Japan

My favorite visual art design period is Art Deco which flourished in 1920, 1930, up to about WW II. Rich colors, bold geometric shapes and exuberant ornamentation celebrated luxury and glamour of the technological progress. Think Titanic, Empire State building and the statue of the Jesus Christ in Rio….So on a recent visit to a beautiful Washington, DC estate I wrote about here, we were delighted at the opportunity to see an Art Deco in Japan exhibit featured at this wonderful setting. I thought you might enjoy some of the pieces we admired to kick off your weekend. Make it glamorous!

Takes you right back to those days of Art deco allure, right?
