Yep! Your read it right…Through my “special connections” and just in time for holidays, I have managed to procure a White House recipe for oatmeal cookies. We tested it and liked it. Let’s bake!
2 sticks soft butter (about 200gr)
3/4 cup dark brown sugar (reduced from 1 cup)
3/4 cup granulated brown sugar (reduced from 1 cup)
1/2 cup dried cranberries/raisins or cherries
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups old fashioned oats
2 tbs milk
6 eggs (adjusted from original 8)
1 tbs vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350F (180 C). Mix butter and sugar until fluffy. Add cherries/ raisins or cranberries. Stir together flour, salt, cinnamon, baking powder and baking soda, then add oats.
Add dry ingredients to butter/sugar. Mix and then add eggs, milk and vanilla extract.
Use two table spoons to make golf ball size balls and lay on cookie sheet for baking, about 2 inch apart. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until edges are lightly brown. Enjoy with some milk or hot chocolate!
