Just like I shared winter in Belgrade moments here, I wanted to share some snippets from my week-long stay in Belgrade this summer.
Summer in Belgrade tastes like fresh peaches and raspberries on the green market, still warm from the sun in the field they were picked.
It tastes as good as cocktails on a rooftop with friends.
Like cold beer on a hot day at my parent’s cottage house in Zuce, just outside of the city, where we seek refuge in the summer from the urban frenzy and sizzling hot streets downtown.
Begrade has its own urban beach at Ada, on an artificial lake which was constructed by connecting it with the river Sava. We, like many folks, spent couple of late afternoons there, chilling and splashing around.
Belgrade tastes like a lazy summer Saturday I spent with my sister walking around Dorcol and Kosancicev venac neighborhoods, checking out local artists’ work, grabbing a bite of Asian food and finally finishing it off with “zen” coffee outside of Makadam store and cafe.
Then, there were nice sunsets by the river, classic facades “decorated” with graffiti, some champagne in a shady garden in Senjak, brunch in Smokvica which has one of the best court-yard seating in the city and painting nails with my cutest niece Mila.
In the summer, Belgrade smells like a bouquet of fresh summer roses picked and sold by a little old lady on a street.
And like this view from my window.
I hope you are having a good summer. Keep exploring!
